20. But now are they many members, yet but one body.1 Corinthians 12:20; KJV. A summary of chapter 12: The church is one body with many members. All spiritual gifts come from God and are distributed by the Holy Ghost. All spiritual gifts must be used in love, and every believer is important and needed. Paul's instruction on spiritual gifts: Learn what gifts you have, then use them wisely. Trust the Spirit's work in your life; genuine faith is produced by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit produces a true confession of Christ. We have but one God, one Lord, one Spirit, but we have many gifts, ministries, and operations. Gifts are for helping others, not for self-promotion; use your abilities to build up others. Every gift has a purpose. They are assigned by God and cannot be earned. Believers are one body in Christ; every believer matters, every believer has a purpose. Do not underestimate your role. Gifts without love are empty; let love guide your service. The lesson: Your role in Christ's body matters. No believer is unnecessary. God's gifts are for the benefit of others. Guide your gifts with love. Unity and different gifts are both essential in the body of Christ. Amen.
