POLITICALLY INCORRECT SCIENCEWhat I Shoulda SaidBefore we got locked out of MeWe, we once had an argument there with a fellow who did not believe in Black Holes, because 'Relativity was Jewish'. Having trained as a physicist, I was sufficiently taken aback by this approach to heuristics that I fear I did not properly rise to the challenge. It was only well after the fact that I realized that the existence of Black Holes is not dependent on the validity of Relativity. Good old-fashioned Newton's Laws of Motion tells us that any body will have a minimum "escape velocity" to permanently leave its surface, and that velocity will be based on the mass of the body. And then the Michaelson-Morely Experiment demonstrated that the speed of light en vacuo is constant.So, since the speed of light is constant, any body large enough to have an escape velocity that exceeds that will be a Black Hole. No Relativity (or any attendant Jewishness) required.
