"I THOUGHT I WAS SAVED AT 12"
"I thought I was saved at 12 when, at a youth rally, I went to the altar and prayed, but God has convicted my heart tonight and has shown me that I have never truly received Jesus as my Saviour."
How many times have you heard that? The answer is TOO MANY. Yet, I have never once heard that testimony followed by a preacher saying, "Folks, we're doing something wrong. We're producing fake converts, and that must change." While it's true that some people confuse their emotions with Holy Ghost conviction and only "feel like" they're still lost, many others give testimonies of having been coached into praying a prayer just because others were doing so or when they had only head belief and not true belief from the heart. Mentally believing that Jesus died and rose again saves no one. One must RECEIVE Christ by believing from the heart, else a fake convert is produced with no changed, Spirit-filled life.
There's no way to insure that the above NEVER happens, but it happens much too often, and almost no one seems bothered by it. We've accepted it as a norm, and I'm sure the devil is very pleased. After all, for every person who does eventually experience conviction and true conversion, how many go through their lives and die clinging to a fake conversion?

I was trembling standing in the pews when I walked by myself to the altar and gave my heart and soul to Christ. When I was baptized, I was so happy. God has NEVER l... View More
