.”Paul Wrote to Timothy From Prison”•
By Joshua Adams
Paul knew his race was almost over.
And one of his final concerns wasn't himself.
It was whether the Gospel would keep moving after he was gone.
So he wrote to Timothy.
Watch yourself.
Endure hardship.
Do the work.
Finish your ministry.
Think about that.
A man who had been beaten, rejected, imprisoned, abandoned by people he trusted, and opposed for preaching Christ was still telling another believer not to quit.
Paul didn't hand Timothy a promise of an easier road.
He handed him a responsibility.
Keep watch.
Endure.
Do the work.
Finish.
We have created a version of Christianity where difficulty makes people question whether God called them.
Paul seemed to expect difficulty BECAUSE Timothy was called.
Some of us need to stop interpreting resistance as a sign to retreat.
Not every closed door means turn around.
Not every lonely season means God left.
Not every attack means you're outside His will.
Sometimes obedience simply costs something.
Paul was approaching the end of his life, and he wasn't grieving because following Jesus had cost him too much.
He was looking back at everything it cost him and saying:
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7
That's the testimony I want.
Not that everybody liked me.
Not that everything worked out the way I wanted.
Not that following Jesus was comfortable.
I want to reach the end knowing that when it hurt, I stayed.
When people walked away, I stayed.
When obedience cost me, I stayed.
When quitting would have been easier, I stayed.
Because one day the platform disappears.
The opinions disappear.
The applause disappears.
And all that remains is whether we were faithful with what God placed in our hands.
Don't just start well.
Finish faithful.

My pastor did a month long study on Paul’s writings from prison. Explaining everything that happened to him from the start when he was arrested.
