Katy Padilla Stout, the Democratic nominee for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, is facing backlash after her spending on junk food and liquor were made public.
FEC filings show:
🔸️March 30
$675 to Nini’s Cookies in San Antonio for “Personalized cookies for victory tour” / “Cookies for event.”
🔸️April 21
$1,089.08 plus $200.14 to Total Wine in San Antonio.
🔸️April 27–28
$2,027.52 plus $346.40 to Las Guitarras Cocina Mexicana
These three categories alone total about $4,338.
The money came from campaign contributions.
Stout’s committee reported raising $485,000 and spending $314,000 through June 30, with more than $171,000 cash on hand at that point.
Republicans say her spending is emblematic of Democrat entitlement and poor judgment with other people’s money.
Stout is running against Republican Brandon Herrera, a gun-rights activist endorsed by President Trump,
