Macy's has declined a request by a float called "The Pride of Dearborn" to join the iconic Thanksgiving Day Parade.
"We don't feel the float portrays American values," said Macy's CEO Josephine Barron, "The Parade is about American traditions and kick-starting the holiday season."
Macy's has a 105-year-old policy of only allowing Christian-themed displays in its parade, not out of intolerance, but in the spirit of what it means to be a New Yorker at the holidays.
"We don't feel it's the time to change that."
