•ELISHA THREW SALT INTO WATER•
By Joshua Adams
Elisha threw salt into water that was already bad.
On the surface, that makes absolutely no sense.
The men of Jericho told Elisha their city was pleasant, but their water was bad and the land was barren. So Elisha asked for a new vessel, put salt in it, walked to the spring and threw the salt into the water.
But don't miss what happened next.
Elisha didn't say, “The salt has healed these waters.”
He said, “Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters.” 2 Kings 2:21
The power was never in the salt.
It was God.
And I wonder how many times we've missed God because we were too busy examining the thing He chose to use.
Moses had a staff.
Gideon had 300 men.
David had a stone.
Elisha had a bowl of salt.
None of those things were powerful enough on their own to accomplish what happened.
That was the point.
God has never needed the method to make sense to us before He moves.
Sometimes obedience looks ridiculous right up until God puts His hand on it.
So if God has told you to do something that seems too small, too strange, or completely inadequate for what's in front of you, remember the spring at Jericho.
Don't put your faith in the salt.
Put your faith in the God who told you where to throw it.
