John Thune says there may not be enough time to push voter ID and citizenship requirements through a standing filibuster.
Thune:
“I guess I would just remind people that the coin of the realm in the Senate is floor time. There’s a finite amount of it, and we have a lot of competing priorities.
You got a housing bill, you got a farm bill, you got a highway bill. You can go right down the list. Russia, Ukraine, China, all the things that we have to deal with on the international stage.
And so, if we get into a prolonged, unlimited debate and amendment process, that could tie this place up for a long time. And we have to make judgments about what we’re gonna do and the sequencing of our legislative priorities.”
