Casey Anthony walked free after a trial that left most of the country convinced a child had been murdered and no one paid the full price. The same instinct that soft-pedals or excuses the killing of children is still alive today. Anyone who treats the deliberate death of a toddler as a complicated social issue rather than a straightforward crime has already chosen the wrong side.Children cannot defend themselves. When a parent ends their life, the only moral response is maximum accountability, not narrative-building or political theater. Excuses built on stress, mental health, or societal pressure do not restore the dead and they do not deter the next case. They simply signal that some killers will be handled with kid gloves.A society that still values its youngest members must reject every attempt to blur the line. Those who murder children belong in prison for life. Those who publicly justify or minimize the act have forfeited the right to be taken seriously on any question of justice. The standard is simple and non-negotiable.
