•THE ARMY RAN FROM SOLDIERS THAT WEREN’T THERE•
By Joshua Adams
They ran from an army that did not exist.
No soldiers were charging them.
No chariots were coming.
No enemy cavalry was approaching.
But God made the Syrian army HEAR them anyway.
2 Kings 7:6 says the Lord caused them to hear “a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host.”
And they believed it.
They abandoned their tents.
Their horses.
Their supplies.
Their entire camp.
Then they ran for their lives from soldiers who were never there.
That is what gets me about this passage.
God did not need Israel to assemble a bigger army. He did not need them to become stronger than Syria. He didn't even need an army on the battlefield.
He simply caused the enemy to hear something.
We spend so much time looking at what we DON'T have that we forget who God is.
You may see no way forward.
You may see no resources.
You may see yourself completely outnumbered.
But Scripture is filled with moments where God didn't change the odds.
He made the odds irrelevant.
Read 2 Kings 7.
Most people have never heard this story.
