In little more than a month, Russian strikes destroyed over 10 million #books in Ukraine — close to one in every three copies the country printed in all of 2025.
On July 2, BookChef lost about 800,000 books when its main warehouse in Kyiv was destroyed.
On July 19, Knyholav lost almost 250,000 copies, while a strike on the Konvi printing plant destroyed hundreds of thousands of school textbooks and materials.
The biggest loss came on August 1 in Kharkiv. Two Russian drones hit a logistics center used by publisher RNK-Ranok.Then, on August 5, another strike burned more than 100,000 BookChef books kept at a reserve warehouse.
For comparison, Ukraine printed 33.2 million books and brochures in all of 2025. In a matter of weeks, Russian attacks erased roughly a third of that annual volume.
