Kill every light in New York for one night and you'd see the Milky Way sitting right on top of the Empire State Building.Somebody proposed a holiday for exactly that. Lights off, everyone outside, heads up. They want to call it Space Day.Plenty of people have never seen a real night sky. We grew up under an orange haze and assumed that was the ceiling, that stars were just a few scattered dots and a plane blinking past. Then you drive far enough from a city, look up once, and realize how much has been sitting there the whole time.We built a lid over ourselves. One night a year with the switch flipped down. That's the entire idea.
