Former New Mexico House Democrat Leader Sheryl Williams Stapleton Found Guilty on All 37 Federal Counts.Sheryl Williams Stapleton, former House Majority Leader, was convicted on every charge, including bribery, mail fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy.Prosecutors said she used her position at Albuquerque Public Schools to steer more than $3 million in education funds to a friend’s company, then took about $1.15 million in kickbacks for herself.Her co-defendant was also found guilty on all counts. Sentencing is pending.
