Well, congratulations, President Trump. Apparently you accidentally relaunched Rosie O’Donnell’s career.
Comedian and former daytime talk-show host Rosie O’Donnell was talking with Amy Poehler on Tuesday’s episode of the Good Hang podcast when she made a rather incredible admission. O’Donnell is not an elected official, so there is no political title or party designation attached to her remarks.
“I feel like recently, I’m re-famous,” O’Donnell said. “I told my kids, ‘Well, kids, hold on ‘cause mommy’s re-famous.’”
And who gets the credit?
Donald Trump.
“I think it’s Mango Mussolini,” she said. “I think it’s him who did it.”
Then came the best part.
“If he knew how much he was helping my career and my life, he would shut up about me because, you know, he’s a horrible creature.” The remarks were made on the August 11 episode of Poehler’s podcast.
You really cannot make this stuff up.
After years of attacking Trump, warning about Trump, raging about Trump and finally moving to Ireland after his reelection, Rosie has apparently reached the conclusion that Trump has been pretty good for Rosie O’Donnell. She moved to Ireland in January 2025 and subsequently said the political situation in America played a major role in that decision.
Since then, she has remained remarkably busy talking about the man she fled the country to escape.
She has appeared with former CNN personalities including Jim Acosta and Don Lemon, and later sat down with former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo. Acosta’s April 2025 show actually featured O’Donnell, Lemon and Ryan Lizza together.
At times it feels less like political resistance and more like an entire second career built around Trump Derangement Syndrome.
And now Rosie herself is basically admitting the arrangement has worked out pretty well for her.
Good for her.
If Ireland has brought her some peace, her career is getting another look and she is happier with her life, wonderful.
But I seriously doubt Donald Trump is sitting in the Oval Office worried that he accidentally made Rosie O’Donnell “re-famous.” He clearly enjoys poking at her, but I suspect that is about as deep as it goes.
The irony is that after all the vitriol, Rosie may have just delivered Trump the funniest line in their entire decades-long feud.
