14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.
Romans 13:14, KJV.
Paul continues his teaching on practical Christian living.
Do not be a troublemaker; obey laws unless they direct you to sin.
God values peace and order.
When you live right, you need not fear authority; the law punishes lawbreakers.
God put authority in government officials to restrain evil; give them respect, for they will answer to God for their deeds.
Pay your taxes, treat everyone fairly, don't cheat or steal, and be respectful.
Love is the foundation of a Christian life; when you love, you do others no harm, nor will you sin against them.
The time is short; Christ is coming.
Wake up spiritually.
Many did not wake to this day, having lost eternal life by putting it off until tomorrow.
The night is here, representing spiritual darkness and sin; the day represents Christ.
So throw away sinful habits and put on Christ's armor of light, living as if Christ returns in the next few minutes.
A Christian life should reflect Christ.
We come to today's verse: putting on Christ is allowing Christ to direct your daily life.
The lesson: Respect authority and live peacefully.
Love others; it fulfills all the commandments.
Be alert and live for Christ, for He will come when nobody expects Him. Amen.
