36. For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.Romans 11:36; KJV. Paul is finishing his explanation of how God is working with Israel and the Gentiles. Paul explains Israel was cast off because of their unbelief in Christ the Lord. We Gentiles found mercy because Christ is alive in our hearts and minds. When Israel turns to Christ, they will be accepted. For if God can accept us, who were sinners, how much more can He restore the people set apart for God. Christ will open the blind eyes of Israel, because, unlike us, God keeps His promises. Israel's rejection of Christ opened the door for us to receive eternal life. And as we received mercy from God for our sins, Israel will receive mercy and grace for their sins and their unbelief. Paul breaks out in praise to God, "O the depth of the riches both of wisdom and knowledge of God!" And we come to today's verse: everything comes and is sustained by God, and returns to God. The lesson: Everything exists for God's glory. God's wisdom is far beyond ours. God will never break His promises to you. God is not finished with Israel. Salvation is mercy from beginning to end; stay humble, faith is a gift. Amen.
