Every liberal protester walks out the door believing they are about to make history. In their minds, they are Joan of Arc in a purple bun. Armor gleaming, sword raised, heaven itself parting the clouds to light their righteous march against the tyrant Trump and his Republican hordes. They are the resistance. The brave few standing between America and darkness. Then there is what the rest of us actually see.A grown adult sitting on the pavement, fists balled up, screaming through tears while a megaphone rolls into the gutter next to a dropped sign. Not a warrior. A toddler in ripped jeans having a meltdown because the country did not vote the way they wanted. The gap between the fantasy and the reality has never been wider, and no slogan captures it better than "No Kings."Think about that one for a second. They are marching through American streets, freely, without permits being denied, without soldiers stopping them, chanting "No Kings" in a constitutional republic that threw off its king 250 years ago. The Founders already handled that. It is in the paperwork. Washington turned down a crown so these folks could scream about one that does not exist. That is the tell. Real oppression does not let you block traffic on a Saturday and be home for brunch. Real tyranny does not issue you a permit. The very freedom they use to protest is the proof their protest is nonsense. Here is the thing, and we say it with a smile. We do not mind the show. Every viral clip of a purple-haired adult wailing on the asphalt does more for conservative turnout than a million dollars in ads ever could. So march on, brave knights. The mirror may show you a hero. The camera shows America the truth.
