Look closely at the cartoon, because the punchline writes itself.Democrat leadership steps to the microphone and warns America that MAGA is the most extreme political movement in recent history. Then look at who is standing behind them.Defund the police. Open borders now. Abolish the Senate.Now look at the people on the other side, the ones we are told to fear. Their signs say lower taxes, secure our borders, support our police, support free speech, and let parents have a say in their own children's education.If that is the most extreme agenda in recent American history, then the word extreme has stopped meaning anything at all.Projection is the tell. For years now the party has sorted Americans by race first and citizen second, handed hiring and admissions over to DEI committees, turned climate policy into a loyalty oath, and made public shame the standard tool for handling disagreement.And now the Democratic Socialists of America are not knocking on the door, they are winning primaries and moving into the building.That matters, because the DSA agenda is not a tweak to the tax code. It is a structural rewrite. Gut the Senate, remake the Court, and reduce the presidency to something closer to a caretaker chosen by whoever controls the House.Publius defended the Senate in Federalist No. 63 for exactly this reason. He knew majorities run hot, that passion moves faster than judgment, and that a free people occasionally need protection from their own worst afternoon.So they call one man an authoritarian while proposing to dismantle the branch built to restrain any single faction. They call MAGA a threat to democracy while elevating candidates who want fewer checks, not more.Common sense used to be the floor of American politics. Inside one of our two major parties it is now treated as heresy, and that should concern every American, regardless of how they vote.Democrats need to get a grip.
