This ๐Ÿ‘‡ explains a lot.
If you have heard about thousands of people crossing illegally to Ceuta, Spain in Northern Morocco, here is a glimpse of why this is happening:
Ceuta which is called Sebta in Arabic is located in Africa not Spain and is historically, a Moroccan territory ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ. It was from this area in the Middle Ages that a Moroccan Amazigh commander named Tariq Ibn Zayad crossed to Gibraltar with 1000 men and conquered Southern Spain and Portugal ( Al Andalous) starting a great civilization that lasted 800 years. Later in the 17th century, Spain colonized Ceuta and Melilla in Northern Morocco to stop the Ottomans ( in Algeria) from reaching their country that had become rich and powerful thanks to all the Gold and Silver from Latin America.
When Spain joined the imperialist movement that targeted Africa, other parts of Morocco were added under its control including Western Sahara in the end of 19th century. When we finally had our independence in 1956, the United Nations ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ณ granted us part of our territories only, those that were under the french control but not Ceuta, Melilla and our Western Sahara. They stayed under Spain ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ because it was hard to negotiate with a dictator, General Franco that was killing his own people.
Fortunately, in 1975 we managed to kick out General Francoโ€™s army and recuperate our Western Sahara and we did it peacefully with what late King Hassan II named The Green March with 350 thousand men and women carrying nothing but the flag and the Qurโ€™an - today, we are still there despite propaganda targeting Morocco by Spanish media still angry that we got back our Sahara and they lost it.
Recently, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez started making all kind of political speechs and press conferences calling to free Gaza ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ and end colonialism of Palestine by Israel ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ. He also promised to give residency to all illegal immigrants in Spain ( certainly to guarantee more voters for his party in the upcoming elections). Unfortunately, our youth took his word for it and decided to cross the fence and enter Ceuta - fifty thousand individuals crossed all at once with the Police en both sides incapable of stopping them.
And, just today, Mr. Sanchez showed up after causing so much chaos where many young men have lost their lives, just to say that an investigation will be carried out and that he brought the army with heavy artillery to protect the enclave - no more mention of colonialism and freedom or even granting residency to all this people who believed his hypocritical self serving speechs.
