Elon Musk is a builder. Whatever anyone thinks of his personality, politics, or social media habits, the man has created companies, developed products, taken enormous risks, employed thousands of people, and pushed entire industries forward.He did not build his fortune by standing behind a podium and demanding a larger share of somebody else’s success. He built rockets, electric vehicles, satellites, battery systems, artificial intelligence projects, and manufacturing operations.Musk may be the most productive and successful builder of his generation.Then look at politicians like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.What have they built?They build government programs, regulatory barriers, tax proposals, congressional hearings, fundraising lists, and endless talking points about how much wealth other people should be allowed to keep.Their political power depends on convincing voters that successful people are the problem, and that Washington should confiscate more of what those people produce.That is the fundamental difference between builders and takers.Builders create value where none existed before. They risk their own money, reputation, and time. They make mistakes, suffer losses, adapt, and try again. When they succeed, they create jobs, products, investment, and tax revenue.The political left often arrives after the value has been created, points to the successful person, and announces that the government deserves a larger cut.That approach can work for a while, but eventually the incentives change.Tax success too heavily, regulate every decision, punish risk, demonize wealth creation, and the builders stop building. Investment moves elsewhere. Innovation slows. Jobs disappear.The left loves to promise everyone a larger slice of the pie, but it rarely explains what happens when its policies shrink the pie, or kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.America became prosperous because it rewarded builders, inventors, entrepreneurs, and risk takers.It will not remain prosperous by turning them into political targets.Which side do you believe creates more lasting value, the people who build businesses and products, or the politicians who promise to redistribute the results?
