Democrats and their allies in the media are working overtime to “prebunk” President Trump’s election security speech before he has even delivered it.They are warning Americans not to believe what they have not yet heard. They are pressuring television networks not to carry the speech live. They want friendly commentators standing by to “fact-check” Trump in real time, which usually means interrupting his argument before viewers have an opportunity to evaluate it for themselves.That tells me Trump may be directly over the target.If Democrats truly believed tonight’s speech would be a political disaster or a giant nothingburger, they would want every television network in America to carry it. They would encourage Trump to speak for hours. They would sit back and let him supposedly destroy his own credibility.Instead, they appear terrified that Americans might hear his case without the usual media filter.What are they so afraid of?Is Trump preparing to reveal genuinely significant information about the 2020 election? Does he have evidence that could change how Americans understand what happened? Or are Democrats simply afraid that a national discussion about voter rolls, identification requirements, ballot handling, and election transparency could build momentum for reforms they fiercely oppose?We do not know yet, and that is why people should watch.Tonight’s speech could be an earthquake that reshapes the political conversation. It could also be overhyped and amount to very little. Both possibilities remain on the table until President Trump actually presents his case.But one thing is already obvious. The people who constantly claim democracy depends upon informed voters are suddenly working very hard to prevent those voters from hearing a sitting president speak live.That contradiction should trouble every American, regardless of party.Let Trump speak.
