So that the people cried out, "Great is the goddess Diana!" When Paul would have entered the theater, the disciples feared for his life and sent him away. Now Alexander would have made a defense to the crowd, but when they found out he was a believer, they continued with their cries of "Great is the goddess Diana!" for two hours. So the town clerk calmed the crowd, saying, "The people should seek legal means if they feel there is a cause against Christians.""Because they are in danger of being called before the Roman government for unlawful assembly." And he dismissed the crowd. The lesson: Economic interests or traditions often resist the Gospel. With a mob, foolishness is not bravery, and caution is not cowardice. If your god needs a riot to survive, he is not a god. God's purposes are not derailed because of opposition. Amen.
