He kept squeezing harder and harder to relieve baby of gas. He broke 25 bones: Cops.
A 31-year-old man, Anthony Hildreth, allegedly took an infant in his care and squeezed the baby’s tiny ribs harder and harder, starting light then ramping up the pressure, just to force the child to pass gas. He also allegedly did repeated “bicycle kicks,” yanking the little legs up to the chest over and over. Why? Because the baby was crying and he got frustrated he couldn’t soothe him.
Result? The helpless infant was rushed to the hospital around 3 a.m. on June 30 with breathing problems. Doctors found 24 rib fractures plus a fractured right femur near the knee. 25 broken bones total.
Hildreth allegedly admitted to police he “could have caused the rib fractures” with the pressure he used. He was charged with aggravated child abuse but walked out on a $50,000 bond with GPS monitoring and orders to stay away from the victim and all minors.
He's pleaded not guilty.
