20. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
Acts 19:20; KJV.
Paul arrived in Ephesus, and meeting some followers of Jesus, asked if they had received the Holy Ghost.
They replied that they had never heard of the Holy Ghost.
Paul inquired as to what baptism they had been baptized into, and they replied, John's baptism.
Paul revealed that John's baptism was one of repentance from sin.
And when they heard this, they were all baptized in the name of Jesus.
Paul laid his hands upon them, and the Holy Ghost came on them, and they prophesied and spoke in tongues.
These men were about 12 in number.
Now Paul, for around 3 months, preached in the synagogue about the kingdom of God.
But the members did not believe and spoke evil of the gospel message.
So Paul separated from them, and for 2 years, all who dwelt in Asia, both Jew and Gentile, heard the Gospel of Christ Jesus.
And God worked special miracles through Paul, so handkerchiefs or aprons were taken from Paul and put on the sick and afflicted, and the sick were healed, and the evil spirits left the afflicted.
The lessons: Some believers need more instruction in the truth to benefit the kingdom of God.
The Holy Ghost is essential to live as a Christian life.
In the end, it's God's word that prevails.
To this very day, spiritual darkness, confusion, and opposition cannot stop the word of God from overcoming, succeeding, healing, and saving, for the promises of Christ the Lord are yes, and let it be so. Amen.
