TRUMP USDA CHIEF BROOKE ROLLINS ANNOUNCES MAJOR SNAP FRAUD CRACKDOWN IN LOS ANGELES — DOZENS OF RETAILERS HIT WITH SEARCH WARRANTS AND CHARGE LETTERS
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins just dropped the hammer on widespread SNAP abuse in deep-blue Los Angeles.
"33 SNAP-authorized retailers in Los Angeles received formal charge letters after search warrants were executed," Rollins stated on Fox News. "Violations include trafficking benefits for cash and selling prohibited items like alcohol, liquor, beer, hard seltzer, vapes, and more."
She made clear this is only the beginning. "These retailers are facing disqualifications and significant fines, but this is just the tip of the iceberg in the fraud plaguing SNAP. Any other retailers or recipients participating in the abuse of taxpayer funds will also be held accountable."
The action targets stores caught converting food stamp benefits into cash and pushing banned items instead of actual groceries. Search warrants were executed, and formal charges are moving forward.
This comes as the Trump administration ramps up scrutiny on programs expanded under the prior administration. Rollins signaled more enforcement is on the way across the program.
Taxpayers fund SNAP to help those in genuine need. When retailers and recipients game the system for cash and prohibited goods, it drains resources meant for families who follow the rules. The Los Angeles operation shows the administration is moving from words to warrants and accountability.
