This shouldn't need to be true. But look at where we are.Voters gave President Trump a mandate. They gave Republicans the House. They gave Republicans the Senate. Then Senate Republicans decided to sit on their hands and let the Democrats run the schedule. The SAVE America Act, President Trump's number one legislative priority, has passed the House three separate times. In the Senate, four Republicans, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, and Thom Tillis of North Carolina, joined every Democrat to kill it on June 4, 2026, according to Fox News. That bill is proof of citizenship to register, voter ID at the polls, and clean voter rolls. It is the bare minimum of election integrity, and four Republicans crossed the aisle to bury it.Then there is the shutdown record. The government has shut down twice under this Republican majority in the last year. The first ran forty three days starting October 1, 2025, the longest full shutdown in American history. The second hit the Department of Homeland Security on February 14, 2026 and dragged on for seventy six days.President Trump keeps asking them to codify his executive orders on nuclear power, border enforcement, and ending DEI. Senate Republicans have the pen. They have the majority. They have the polling. They still cannot get out of their own way.Federalist 39 reminds us that a republican government must be "derived from the great body of the society." The voters spoke. Senate Republicans keep pretending they didn't hear it.If Senate Republicans want to keep the majority in November, they had better remember who sent them to Washington. The voters were promised action, not press releases and Sunday show sound bites.
