7. And there they preached the Gospel.Acts 14:7; KJV Paul and Barnabas, having come to Iconium, began to preach in the synagogue. Many Jews and Greeks believed, causing the unbelieving Jews to stir up strife, wanting to stone them. Paul and Barnabas, leave traveling to Lystra, and a certain lame man, crippled from birth, looking at Paul, and Paul perceiving he had faith to be healed, said, "Stand upright on your feet." And he leaped up and walked. Now the citizens thought they were gods and wanted to worship them. Paul and Barnabas tried to persuade the people not to. At this time, the unbelieving Jews from Antioch came and convinced the people to stone Paul, and thinking he was dead, cast him out of the city. But as the disciples stood around him grieving, he rose up, and the next day, he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. Here are some lessons: Preach clearly and boldly. Expect belief and opposition. Use wisdom in danger. God can heal in hopeless situations. Miracles must point to God. Crowds are unstable; Christ is steady, sure, and faithful. Paul shows perseverance; after being stoned, he gets up and goes back to the mission of preaching Christ, putting his trust in God. Amen.
