#new Senator Rand Paul is calling on every citizen in the US to call their senator at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to support his Constitutional Amendment to end Birthright Citizenship. #DC "We must protect the integrity of American citizenship."The Supreme Court - with the help of Chief Justice John Roberts & Amy Coney Barrett - ruled 6-3 to strike down President Donald Trump's executive order.Thw order would have put an end to automatic birthright citizenship for children born on American soil to parents who are illegal migrants or on temporary visas.Roberts wrote the majority opinion joined by Amy Coney Barrett, and the liberal Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch dissented. Thomas argued the clause was written after the Civil War to secure citizenship for freed slaves and their children, not to allow the children of illegal migrants or temporary visitors to automatically be citizens. The dissent warned the ruling carries serious long-term consequences for the country.White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller called the decision “one of the most destructive and outrageous decisions in the long history of the Supreme Court.” “American citizenship is not the birthright of the world. It belongs only and solely to Americans. No provision of the Constitution can be read to require our national self-obliteration.”Sen. Paul (R-Kentucky) labeled the ruling disappointing and pointed to the constitutional amendment he introduced in back in April.That amendment would make sure children of illegal migrants or temporary visa holders would not be granted automatic citizenship. Paul says SCOTUS' interpretation was never the intent of the 14th Amendment’s framers and incentivizes illegal immigration through anchor babies and birth tourism.
