Trust no one when traveling. Keep everything in front of you.A China tourist visiting Iceland’s famous Gullfoss Waterfall had her wallet stolen by two female pickpockets—unaware that her own action camera had captured the entire theft. The footage shows two women following closely behind the tourist. One calmly unzipped her crossbody bag, removed the wallet, and passed it to her accomplice dressed in black. Despite noticing the camera, the suspects remained remarkably calm and continued the theft without hesitation. After discovering her wallet was missing, the tourist retraced her steps before reviewing the footage and realizing she had been pickpocketed. She handed the video to local police, but the case remains unsolved. To make matters worse, her stolen credit card was allegedly used the following day for unauthorized transactions totaling RMB11,000 (around US$1,500) in Saudi Arabia.Although Iceland is widely regarded as one of the safest and most peaceful countries in the world, with very low crime rates, this incident serves as a reminder that opportunistic theft can happen anywhere. Most risks in Iceland are usually linked to its unpredictable weather and rugged natural landscapes—not crime.Travelers are advised to keep valuables within sight, wear bags in front when visiting crowded attractions, and never leave important belongings unattended.Source: HK01
