Ilhan Omar described as 'something happening to some people' #Socialists Kawas making the remarks on a panel in 2017, "The system of capitalism and racism and White supremacy and Islamophobia have all been used to colonize lands, to take resources from other people and so this is a long trajectory and we're just seeing the manifestations of that continuation right with 9/11" #muslim "The idea that we have apologize for a t*rror attack that a couple people did and then there is no apologies or reparations for genocides and for slavery is something that I kind of find like reprehensible." Kawas,a Palestinian member of the DSA defeated Assemblyman Steven Raga with about 60% of the vote. #islam She was endorsed by the foreign born mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani. Because the district is heavily Democratic, her primary victory makes her the strong favorite to win the general election. Kawas holds a master's degree in Islamic Liberation Theology, and helped launch the "Not On Our Dime" campaign aimed at taxing New York-based organizations that support Israel. Kind of like the tax m*slims put on people who are not m*slims. She has called for ending U.S. support for Israel Sh is also linked to activist networks that have promoted pro-Palestine, Pro-Hamas and Pro October 7, 2023 attack that killed about 1,200 civilians including children and took hundreds of hostages. Many are now wondering how the 'Never forget' campaign of 9/11 - so quickly turned into electing m*slims to public office, when it was m*slims who hijacked four planes, took down the Twin Towers and k*lled nearly 3,000 people. Now those same m*slims in office, are blaming Americans for the attack. What does that say about how some New Yorkers now remember - or choose to reinterpret - that day?
