Last night, no senator objected when Senate Majority Leader John Thune requested unanimous consent to adjourn the Senate for the July 4 recess and postpone all Senate votes until July 13.
Thune stated:
"I ask unanimous consent that when the Senate completes its business today, it stands adjourned to then convene for pro forma sessions only, with no Senate votes until July 13."
The request was approved without objection.
The decision comes as President Trump continues to urge Congress to pass the Save America Act. Just one day earlier, Trump cancelled his signing of the Housing Crisis Bill until the Save America Act was also passed.
