Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) stated that the SAVE America Act cannot be implemented in time for the 2026 midterm elections, calling the timeline unrealistic given early voting, voter registration deadlines, and implementation challenges.
Tillis told reporters: “The SAVE America Act will not be implemented in time for this election… Anybody who knows anything about election law understands that.” He noted that with only months until November — and early voting starting sooner — there isn’t sufficient time or funding to roll out the changes without major disruption. He questioned whether any realistic plan could achieve this on such short notice.
