22. And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, Acts 7:22, KJV. Stephen is in the middle of his speech to the Jewish council. He continues with the birth of Moses, and how he grew up in Pharaoh's court. At 40 years old, Moses defended a Hebrew and slew an Egyptian. When this was made known to Pharaoh, Moses left Egypt, fleeing to the land of Midian, where he married and had two sons. Forty years later, God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and told Moses to go to Pharaoh and tell him to release God's people. Stephen reminds them that this Moses, whom the Hebrews rejected, is the one God sent to rescue them. Moses, with great power and miracles from God, led the people of God from Egypt to the promised land. The people of God fell into idolatry, making golden calves, while Moses was on the mountain talking to God. Moses, in a prophetic response to the people, said, "The Lord shall raise another prophet from among you; hear Him." Stephen reminds them that Moses was speaking of Christ Jesus, the Lord and Savior of the world. Amen.
