This meme hits because the contrast could not be clearer.
Elon Musk built things. Real things. Tesla helped turn electric vehicles from a niche curiosity into a global industry. SpaceX restored American astronaut launches from American soil, built reusable rockets, expanded satellite internet, and just became the company that pushed Musk into first trillionaire territory.
You can like Musk or hate Musk, but the man has created companies, jobs, products, infrastructure, and technological breakthroughs that changed the world.
Then there is Bernie Sanders.
Sanders has spent a lifetime in government railing against the people who build, risk, invest, hire, invent, and produce. He calls them oligarchs. He complains about capitalism. He lectures America about climate change. Then his own campaign travel tells a very different story, with private jet spending tied to the same “fighting oligarchy” road show.
Now Sanders wants to take that same old socialist playbook and aim it at Musk, billionaires, and AI companies.
His latest idea is not subtle. He wants a 50 percent stock tax on the largest AI companies, shoved into a government controlled sovereign wealth fund, with dividends and programs handed out in the name of “the people.” He has also backed a billionaire wealth tax that specifically names Musk and says he would owe tens of billions.
One guy builds rockets, cars, satellites, AI infrastructure, and companies that employ armies of people. The other guy builds resentment, speeches, tax schemes, and excuses for why government should control more of what productive people create.
That is why the meme lands.
The productive carry the parasites, and every time the productive create something new, the professional political class shows up with reins, a whip, and a tax bill.
Disgusting.
