People love to say Christians should stay out of politics, but that usually means one thing in practice, Christians should be quiet while everyone else brings their worldview into government. That is exactly why this cartoon hits so hard:“If Christians are not engaged with politics, decisions will be made by people who think God is irrelevant and the truth of God’s Word does not exist.”That is not complicated. Government does not become neutral when Christians walk away. It simply gets filled by people with a different moral vision, a different definition of right and wrong, and a different idea of freedom.Politics decides what children are taught, what speech is protected, what conscience rights survive, how families are treated, whether life is defended, and whether religious liberty remains more than a slogan.Christians do not need to apologize for caring.Being engaged does not mean every church becomes a campaign office. It does not mean every sermon becomes a stump speech. It means believers understand that public policy has moral consequences, and silence is not a virtue when the culture is trying to erase biblical truth from public life. The people who say Christians should stay out of politics rarely apply that standard to themselves. They have no problem bringing their secular worldview into the classroom, the courtroom, the legislature, the bureaucracy, and the media. They only object when Christians refuse to surrender the field.A government without Christian influence will not be morally empty. It will be shaped by something else. And more and more, that something else is hostile to God, hostile to Scripture, hostile to the family, and hostile to the values that built this country.Christians can either engage, vote, speak, organize, and lead, or they can watch as their values are pushed out of every institution that matters.Engagement question: Do you believe Christians have a duty to be involved in politics, or should faith stay completely separate from government?
