12. And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people;Acts 5:12. KJV. The Spirit is working in the new church, and the people are learning that you cannot play games with God's Spirit. So people that were not truly committed to the Lord feared for their lives because of the punishment they saw given to Ananias and his wife. And God worked many signs and wonders, performing miracles of healing, deliverances, and supernatural works, using the apostles as His instruments. And true believers were added daily to the church. Then came a multitude of people from cities around Jerusalem, sick folks, some with demon spirits, and all were healed; none of them were turned away. And the high priest arrested the apostles for the crime of preaching Jesus. And they were placed in a common jail. But that night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and set them free, with the instructions: go speak in the temple all the words of Jesus—His salvation, forgiveness, resurrection, the Holy Spirit, and eternal life. The lesson: God is Holy; do not play games with Him. True believers come to Jesus, no matter the cost. No prison can stop God. When Christ sets you free, it is for you to boldly share the Gospel and the message of eternal life in Christ. Amen.
