After more than 31 years, justice is finally approaching for one of the most horrific m*rders in Tennessee history.
In January 1995, 18-year-old Christa Gail Pike and two accomplices lured 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer into the woods near Job Corps in Knoxville.
Driven by jealousy, they tortured her for roughly 30 minutes, carved a pentagram into her chest, and Pike finished the killing by smashing her skull with a chunk of asphalt.
Pike even kept a piece of Colleen’s skull as a gruesome souvenir.
Pike was convicted in 1996 and sentenced to death.
Her accomplices received lighter sentences.
While in prison, she was later convicted of attempting to strangle another inmate in 2001 and was involved in a foiled escape plot in 2012.
If the execution is carried out on September 30, 2026, she would be the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years.
The case highlights how long the appeals process can drag on, even for such a savage crime.
