Did you know that during the 1948 War of Independence, the US under Truman almost caused the destruction of Israel?
Instead of supporting the newly founded Jewish state, Truman imposed suffocating weapons sanctions on the young country right at its start. This happened while Israel was being attacked by seven military forces of the Islamic Ummah, whose goal was to wipe out the emerging nation and the Jews living in it. Meanwhile, the armies of the Islamic Ummah were armed to the teeth through weapons purchase agreements with Britain.
Israel used its grit and resourcefulness to secure weapons from Czechoslovakia, which saved the country even though the US had essentially left it to die.
