As we prepare to celebrate the Signing of the Declaration of Independence and our 250th anniversary as a nation, this popular YouTuber and his wife told the world they aborted their 5-month-old baby after a Down Syndrome diagnosis. They were lit up on social media and rightfully so. This was a heinous act of betrayal. They - and their "doctors" - should be in prison. The Declaration of Independence claims, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these, the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."The "right to life" comes before the "pursuit of happiness" for good reason.We don't get to kill people, no matter how small and helpless they may be, in our pursuit of happiness. This baby had a right to life. These parents had a duty to protect their baby and to love that child, regardless of the difficult circumstances.The medical community has a responsibility to protect life and to "do no harm". This was a purely selfish choice made by two young people who are the by-product of a culture that places greater value on pleasure and things than on people.We are drunk on luxury and drowning in consumerism.As we prepare to celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary, may this story awaken a spirit of repentance within this nation for the bloodshed of multiple generations. May it convict the heart of a visible Church that has enabled this injustice. And may God grant revival and awakening in this nation, leading to the overthrow of this culture of death.
