Vanilla Ice is refusing to back down amid criticism over his upcoming appearance at Washington, D.C.'s Freedom 250 celebration, making it clear that his commitment to the event remains unchanged.
The rapper defended his decision by highlighting his respect for U.S. service members, praising the sacrifices made by soldiers who have risked and, in some cases, given their lives for the country. He said honoring that service should never be controversial.
Addressing the backlash, Vanilla Ice argued that entertainers should not be pressured into taking political sides or shamed for expressing pride in their country. "I don't like anybody telling me I can't be proud of my country," he said while reaffirming his support for the historic event.
For Vanilla Ice, Freedom 250 is about celebrating America's 250th birthday and recognizing a milestone in the nation's history. Despite the criticism, he says he intends to keep his promise and take part in the celebration.
