"THE DEATH OF THE LAST ENEMY" "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." (1 Corinthians 15:26)In this life we face many formidable foes. There's temptation, grief, discouragement, and fear. As children of God, we have all known what it is to fight against our enemies. We battle daily with the world, the flesh, and the devil. We war against sorrow, lust, and depression. But none has proven so devastating as death itself. Yet, we can emerge victorious through the Power of our risen Saviour Who conquered death.Death is no respecter of persons. Every day it waves its black flag around the world and digs its trench filling it with the bodies of the young and old alike. But this is the very same foe that Christ has promised to vanquish on our behalf! Yes, that last enemy will be His final victory.Throughout the Scriptures, we read where Christ was mighty in the destruction of every enemy. and He reigns today as the Victorious One. Not only of His own enemies, but of ours as well. In fact, His resurrection emboldens our faith that we too will be delivered from the power that death has over us.With death conquered by our Saviour's empty tomb, what is left for the Child of God but joy unspeakable and full of glory. When that last enemy is finally and forever banished from the scene, no other adversary will ever be able to raise its ugly head against us again. No more death! NO MORE! NO MORE! Praise God, NO MORE!Friends, one day God will bury death forever in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:14). And on that day, you and I as His redeemed children shall all stand with Jesus and raise our banners high declaring, "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" (1 Corinthians 15:55)
