15. If ye love me, keep my commandments.John 14:15. Today's verse is plain in its meaning: love is more than words and feelings. Love proves itself by obedience. Obedience doesn't earn Christ's love or salvation; it's the evidence that we love Him. Jesus says, "If you are obedient, I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit. He will be with you and will always be present with you." The world cannot receive Him because they do not believe or obey Jesus. Before Pentecost, the Spirit was with believers; now Jesus is telling them the Spirit will be in them. Jesus said this so as not to leave them feeling abandoned after His death and resurrection. When Jesus returns to the Father, the Spirit will help believers understand the close relationship, the bond between the Father and Jesus. Jesus and the Father are one. And we have a spiritual union with Jesus. His life is in us, and our lives are hidden in Him. Amen.
