Federal prosecutors have charged a mother and daughter — Shamso Ahmed Hassan, 55, and Hanaan Mursal Yusuf, 25 — with healthcare fraud and money laundering in connection with two autism therapy centers in Minnesota. The pair allegedly billed Minnesota’s Medicaid program more than $46 million and received about $21 million for services that were not provided or were medically unnecessary. Authorities say they paid kickbacks to parents to enroll children in the program and falsely claim autism diagnoses. The case is part of a larger federal takedown targeting more than $90 million in alleged Medicaid fraud across multiple programs.
