I've never seen this before...
One “wind telephone”.
I discovered this on Instagram a few days ago and I find the idea incredibly touching.
Originally, this concept came from Japan.
It's an old phone set up in the wilderness... but it's not connected to anything.
People go there to talk to someone they have lost.
A parent. A friend. A love. Someone they still miss.
The phone doesn't really work.
Nobody answers.
But sometimes grief just needs a place to go.
Sometimes love still needs to speak.
And I find it deeply beautiful.
We spend so much time pretending to be okay.
To stay strong.
To continue moving forward at all costs.
When deep down, missing someone is normal.
Continuing to talk to him in his head is normal too.
And somewhere, amidst the wind...
this old phone gently reminds people that they don't have to be ashamed of their pain.
Frankly, I find it magnificent.
