5. For neither did his brethren believe in him.
John 7:5.
If you have read the four Gospels, you will notice not much of Jesus' childhood is revealed.
Here John talks about how His stepbrothers talked to Him.
They tell Jesus, "Go up to the feast, and show your power to all; don't stay hidden."
Jesus tells them He moves on His Father's orders, and His time has not come, meaning His death and resurrection.
But revealing that they can go anywhere they want, the world does not hate them, for they are part of it.
But the world hates Jesus because His words and actions expose the evil in the hearts and actions of mankind.
Jesus knows what it feels like to be rejected by family, and some know what it's like to be bullied in school, it never seems to end.
These brothers made fun of Jesus, being close to Him in a family unit, but being close is no guarantee of believing and moving in faith, as to ask Jesus, "Save me from my sins."
Jesus' stepbrothers, after His resurrection, believed, became leaders, and authors of Scripture.
What can we do but believe? Amen.
