9. There is a lad here, which hath 5 barley loaves, and 2 small fishes: but what are they among so many?John 6:9. John 6:1-15, is Jesus feeding over 5,000, on what is mentioned in today's verse. Jesus is teaching and looks at the crowd, asking Philip, "Where are we going to get food to feed all these people?" Philip says, "6 months' wages would not be enough to give everyone a mouthful." Andrew mentioned the lad, who brought his lunch. Philip and Andrew, having done the math, see tiny resources and a massive need; it is impossible to them. That's the point of this story. What is impossible to us is nothing to Jesus, who created everything. Jesus feeds over 5,000 and fills 12 baskets of leftovers. The men see what is leftover and want to make Jesus their King. They want what is physical, not what is spiritual. The lesson in simple terms:Huge need, tiny resources, the task is impossible. Jesus uses what is available for a miracle. Everyone eats, and there is more leftover than what was at the start. The crowd wants the wrong kind of king; they do not want a Savior, they want someone where they do not have to work and eat for free. What impossible miracle do you need in your life, trust Jesus, But understand, He will fix you spiritually first. Amen.
