31. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. John 5:31. The purpose of the Bible is to reveal God and His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. In today's verse, Jesus explains that He had witnesses before He came to redeem mankind. Moses, the prophets, John the Baptist, all His miracles, and His Father's voice from heaven, saying how pleased He was with His Son Jesus. If you are not reading, you are missing out on the greatest love letters written to mankind. Jesus is saying in 5:25-36 that the Father has given Him authority over everything and everyone. The time shall come when all who have died will arise; those who received Christ will go to the reward promised. All who reject Christ are rejecting His atonement and have absolutely no covering for sin. Only judgment and destruction await. Christ came as a willing replacement for us, dying in our place, so we could live with Him forever. No greater love can be found, for all have sinned, but not all have received Him. There will be nothing so sweet as to hear, "Welcome, you have been a good and faithful servant, enter now into your eternal rest." Amen.
