23. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.John 5:23. Jesus heals a man at the pool of Bethesda, and this has angered the religious leaders, who find the man, who said Jesus healed him and told him to pick up his bed and go home, having been by the pool for 38 years. The leaders confront Jesus, and Jesus replied, "My Father is working and so I work too." So now they seek to kill Jesus for healing on the Sabbath and saying, "God is His Father." Jesus tells them, "I do not act on my own; I do whatever the Father does." Jesus does not compete with the Father; the relationship is rooted in love. The Father has shown Jesus all His plans and works. And Jesus will do greater work than healing the sick. He will become the Savior of the world, the giver of everlasting life. Jesus deserves the same honor as the Father who sent Him. You cannot honor the Father if you reject who He sent. If you believe and trust Jesus, you have passed from condemnation and entered into eternal life. When you hear Jesus, you are hearing the Father, and obeying Jesus is obeying the Father, and all who do so have entered into a reward they cannot even imagine. Amen.
