"Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang has agreed to plead guilty to a federal charge of acting as an illegal foreign agent for the Chinese government by promoting propaganda, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.  The 58-year-old Democrat, who was elected to the Arcadia City Council in November 2022 and served as mayor on a rotating basis, admitted to running a website called U.S. News Center that disseminated pro-PRC content at the direction of Chinese officials from late 2020 through 2022. Wang worked with her then-fiancé, Yaoning “Mike” Sun, who previously pleaded guilty to the same charge and is serving a four-year prison sentence.  The website, which appeared to be a legitimate news source for the Chinese American community, posted articles favorable to Beijing, including content denying human rights abuses in Xinjiang.
