“A Child of War”
As I stand among the ruin, the place my parents once grew-in.
I feel the effects, as the image reflects.
I was a child at play, when it was all taken away.
First it was the peace and quiet replaced by the blast of a shell, I stood as it happened and started to yell.
There was no one there to hear me, as people began to flee.
I was to young a child to understand the trouble, as I searched for mom and dad beneath the rubble.
Here I stand in a place I no longer recognize, no longer do I hear joy and laughter, I only hear the cries.
I stood in front of a pile of rubble that once was our house all I recognize is the number on the door, no longer a child of my parents I’m now a child of war.
